I have been trying to up the fun factor in our meals while I return my focus to eating in more than eating out. Even simple budget-friendly foods can be prepared and served in interesting ways. One evening Mr. Second Helpings arrived home a little earlier than usual. It was a Friday and his appearance put us all in a good mood and made a perfect opportunity for us to make dinner as a family. I didn’t plan ahead for our cooking project but I wanted to make a pizza. Friday nights and pizza just go together like so many other natural pairings, peanut butter and jelly, sand and waves, champagne and whatever glass I happen to be holding…
In the past lack of planning would have meant no pizza for dinner. I have a great recipe for pizza crust but it needs a few hours to rise before the dough is ready to become crust. Luckily I now have a recipe that goes from flour to finished in about 30 minutes. The crust is thin and chewy with a nice crisp edge.
We took turns slicing and dicing our toppings. The Little Helping really liked slicing the sausages – and then eating the slices. The Little Helping and I prepared the pizza crust and arranged our toppings. The process is so simple he was able to help with almost all of the steps.
Mr. Second Helpings recorded us while we worked. After a little editing and the addition of background music we made our first ever step-by-step recipe video! Now you don’t have to take my word for it, you can watch us make a pizza from start to finish in just two minutes. Click play to see the magic.
I hope you like our debut recipe video. If it is a hit we may make more for future posts.
This Friday evening gather family and friends in the kitchen slice, dice, mix, roll, and bake yourselves some TGIF pizzas! Nothing gets the weekend off to a good start like sharing a fun and healthy meal with great company.
